Above is the view of Edinburgh castle from the street leading up to it.
This is a picture of the view from Edinburgh Castle.
It is standing on a rock that has been there for 70 million years.
People have been living there since the Bronze Age(850 B.C). The oldest part of the castle is St. Margaret's Chapel (below). It is about 900 years old.
Hi Graham (and the rest of you)
ReplyDeleteIt's Cheryl -- so glad you got to see the statue of William Wallace. Somehow Mark is related to him. The Wallace motto is Pro Liberte which means For Freedom. He was quite a fighter -
Isn't it amazing seeing and being in buildings that are so old. Old in Canada is nowhere near 500 or 900 years. Just think of the stories that the walls must hold. Oh to be able to time travel - on location - and see life during some of those ancient days -- I think it would be fascinating - (but not the battles part).
:-)
Most buildings ARE 500 to 900 years here. But they have a longer history. We have not seen a 1000 year old building yet. Thanks for the comment!!!
